What To See And Do In Stevington

Although the UK is unfortunately on lockdown and it doesn’t look as though any of us are going anywhere any time soon, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be thinking about the future and planning a few trips here and there… the perfect way to really refresh and regroup once the pandemic is over.

If you’d rather have a staycation than jet off somewhere far away towards the end of the year, what about visiting us here at the Red Lion in Stevington for a lovely little country jaunt away?

You’ll find you have an awful lot on your doorstep and the pub/hotel is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore - and there’s some stunning countryside just waiting to be discovered.

Keep an eye out for the Stevington windmill as you traverse your way up hill and down dale, an 18th century postmill that has been fully restored. Pop into one of the local pubs and ask for the keys (yours for a returnable deposit) so you can have a good look around.

There’s also Kathy Brown’s Garden at the Manor House, the perfect choice of destination for anyone who loves a taste of all things quintessentially English. It’s open between May and September so hopefully once restrictions have been lifted, you’ll be able to pay it a visit.

Music fans are well catered for as well, with the Glenn MIller Museum just outside the village. Twinwood Airfield, where the museum is situated, was actually a training airfield during the second world war - and it is from this very site that legendary bandleader Glenn Miller boarded the plane that went on to mysteriously disappear.
